Locals and tourists alike all agree, the best way to explore East Gippsland is by pedaling.
The area has some of the best tracks for jogging, walking and bike riding that can be found anywhere in the region. Of course, one of the best places to ride is Raymond Island itself. Taking your bike over to the island is free on the Raymond Island Ferry, and once you arrive you’ll be able to use it to explore the extensive trail options throughout the island.
You can ride to the east side of the island, scouring the land for koalas and kangaroos along the way, or enjoy one of several bike loops on the island that will be sure to give you the full tour. Simply choose the route you want to do depending on where you want to go or how long you want to bike.
Paynesville/ Eagle Point Loop (10km)
This bike path starts at Captains Cove and takes you through Sunset Cove along Newlands Drive Foreshare. You’ll get to enjoy the beauty of the McMillans Straits and Newlands Arm and Lake King as the path winds around them. If you start your trip around morning or dusk, you’ll be sure to see some kangaroos.
